P7
Welcome to P7!
In P7, we take great pride in developing our leadership skills through Restorative Practice, an important part of our school values. This year, several of our pupils have trained to become members of our Restorative Practice Crew (RP Crew), supporting younger children to resolve conflicts calmly and fairly. We follow the 5 Rs of Restorative Practice as guiding principles for repairing harm and strengthening our school community: Relationship, building positive and healthy connections; Respect, ensuring every voice is heard and valued; Responsibility, helping those involved recognise their part in a situation; Repair, working together to fix the harm caused; and Reintegration, welcoming individuals back into the community with understanding and support. These principles help our pupils grow as empathetic, reflective young people—skills that will benefit them throughout school and in life beyond Kilcooley Primary School.
Our Kilcooley Connect Project is rooted in the Five Ways to Wellbeing: Be Active, Keep Learning, Take Notice, Give and Connect. These principles help bring our learning to life by providing real‑world experiences that support both our education and our physical and mental wellbeing. We believe in the power of outdoor, hands‑on learning, and we make the most of every opportunity to explore the world beyond our classroom. From developing new skills to noticing the beauty in our surroundings, every activity helps us grow as confident, curious learners.
Being active is a big part of who we are, especially through our Active Travel adventures. We love cycling—whether it’s early morning rides to the coast to watch the sunrise before school, or taking on meaningful challenges like our charity cycle to Holywood to raise awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness. Our sense of connection extends to our community too, including our intergenerational partnership with Oakmont Care Home, where we build friendships and share learning across generations. We are especially excited for our upcoming Mourne Mountains trip in April to climb Slieve Doan, where pupils, parents, staff, and the community will come together to celebrate the spirit and success of our Kilcooley Connect Project.#
